As I am sure most of you have already read, I sadly had to replace my MacBook Pro earlier this month. With that came a whoooole lotta playing catch up. So, actual projects had to take precedence over blogging about said projects. I even missed my promised #TBT craft edition. Bummer. At least I gave you all fair warning that things would get a bit bumpy from time to time, right? ;) We'll all survive. The good news is (though I seemingly vanished from the blogosphere) I have indeed been a busy little b and have plenty to share! Instead of focusing on me being virtually MIA, can we just bask in the fact that I've gotten SO many things checked off the ol' to-do list instead? Best. feeling. ever.
Here are some little snipits of what I have been up to. A Week (plus some) in Review, if you will.
I ended last week by putting the finishing touches on the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Birthday that I did an invite-sneak on a few weeks ago. Lemme just say... I even ventured into the world of fabric interfacing for the first time and am in love! I can't wait to share more of this party. It deserves it's own post. Stay tuned.
On Saturday, I wrapped up a wedding order before heading to take Kelly Purkey's Scrapbooking Workshop. I was so happy to be part of her first class in Chicago...especially since the little gypsy is leaving the city for new adventures. Props. to. her! Held at The Foxhole Chicago's awesome new space, the day consisted of 2 classes (one mini album, and one project life spread), so many KP paper/crafting goodies from her Mon Ami line, and... cookies. Oooh the cookies. What more could a girl need?
I've also spent a couple days getting my craft on at The Barker's Studio. There is nothing like having a space you feel absolutely inspired to create in. For me, I am lucky to have The Barkers and their loft-style studio here in the city to fill that. Nothing (and I mean, NOTHING) makes me feel whole like being in a creative space with unbelievably talented creative spirits. I admire Kristen's ability to dream up ideas bigger than herself and seemingly always find ways of bringing them to life. I am even more excited to be part of their newest color-filled personal project that we're in the middle of creating, and can't wait to share more! Am I a starving artist straight down to my soul, or what? Makes my heart sing. Sorry, bank account.
Another thing that makes my heart happy is when I can use my art to give back. I ended the weekend finalizing sets of handmade greeting cards that were donation items for the upcoming "Spring for the Settlement" event put on by The Chicago Board of The Northwestern Settlement House. I love being able to utilize my creativity for a good cause. You can read more about what this amazing organization does here.
Sooo there we go. See ya, April. Let's kick this next month off with a bang! Here's to checking things off the to-do list and adding more. So many exciting things happening in May. A huge thanks to all my clients and life-loves for being graciously patient while I catch up & for dealing with the craze. You all rock my world. These kinds of weeks deserve a standing ovation.
